How do I create a grade book?
- Log into Aeries and then click on Gradebook from the menu on the left.
- Select the “Add Gradebook” button from the top of the screen.
- Grades 1-8 select Fall and Spring; TK/K select terms 1, 2, 3, and 4. Click Save.
- You can link your Gradebook to Google Classroom (GC) now, or you can do it later. If you link, your students will automatically be added to your Gradebook. If you link later, you will add your students to the gradebook.
- To link Gradebook to GC: To do this, log into Aeries. Your gradebooks will be listed on your home screen under “Class Summary”. Next to each gradebook, there is an “Add Website” button. When you click that, the following screen will say “Google Classroom options,” click the link. It will then bring up any Classrooms that you have. Please select the one you want; it automatically saves and brings you back to your Aeries home screen. The “Add Website” button will have changed to a pencil and “view website”.
- After adding your students, you will need to add categories. These can be whatever categories you want them to be. If setting up only one gradebook, the categories can be subjects like ELA, math, history, and science. If you are setting up multiple gradebooks, then categories might be more specific, such as Reading comprehension, spelling, writing, and vocabulary if setting up an ELA gradebook. The options are endless. Do what fits your individual needs.
- Now, you can add assignments by clicking the “Add Assignment” button on the screen. Follow the wizard to create the assignment. Assignments can be backdated to the beginning of the semester if need be. Make sure to attach a standard; I recommend changing the default at the top of the screen from “Common Core” to “Report Card Standards” using the drop-down menu. Click Close and then “Save and Close.” You can now add the scores for your assignment.
How do we import grades from Google Classroom into Aeries Gradebook?
- Your gradebook must be linked to your Google Classroom to import the grades. To do this, log into Aeries.
- Log into Aeries gradebook
- The first screen that appears is your gradebook dashboard. On this screen, a button just above your gradebooks says “Import Assignments from Google.”
- Once the assignments have been pushed into your gradebook, you can edit the assignment and add the standard. You should do this every week.
- Any assignment in Google Classroom can be pushed into Aeries: forms, docs, slides, quizzes, tests, and any other assignment with a score.
Do you know if grades can still be entered manually into the report card?
- Yes, you can still manually enter any grade, even after importing the grades from the gradebook. Aeries is forgiving and allows you to overwrite if the report card window is open.
How do I print report cards?
- Log into Aeries.
- From your home screen, click on the “View all Reports” menu option on the left-hand side of the screen.
- Scroll through the list and click on “Standards-Based Report Cards.”
- Check the information on the screen to ensure it is correct, and click “Run Report.”
- After it processes the report, you can “view report” or “download report.” Select the option you want, and from there, you can print. Make sure to change the printer settings to paper of legal size.
How do I run reports for parents?
- There are many different reports available. To view all the reports, log into your gradebook and open it up. Near the top of the screen (in the dark blue band), you will see an option for “Reports.” Since there are so many, you must click on different reports to determine which fits your needs. Everyone has different preferences and different needs. Do not be afraid to play around with these; just because you click on one does not mean you have to use it.
How do I push the grades from the gradebook onto the report card?
-
Log into your Aeries
-
Select “Standards Based Grades”
-
Just under the student’s name is a button that says “Load Grades from Gradebook.” This button is ONLY visible when the report card window is open.
-
Click that button, and it will open a wizard. Follow the subsequent several screens, just verifying that the information is correct and click “Next”. Do this until you reach a screen that says “Import Grades.”
-
Click “Import Grades,” and the grades will appear in the yellow column on the right.
-
The nice thing about using this feature is that it loads ALL grades for ALL students at once. As soon as you click “Import Grades,” you don’t have to do it again.
-
You can check the grades by student, ensuring you didn’t miss anything. If you have a blank grade, you can enter it manually. Make sure to enter effort and citizenship grades.
-
Click on the “View Missing Marks” button near the top of the screen, and it will populate a quick report of anything that was missed by any student. Again, you do not need to do this for individual students; it will populate for all students.
